Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Machinist is responsible for the safe operation and periodic maintenance of a variety of manually controlled machines used in the production of oil and gas equipment and related materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Practice safe work habits and comply with all quality, safety, health and environmental policies, procedures, programs, and regulations.
- Responsible for producing machined products according to company dimensional drawings, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
- Ability to use detailed measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers
- Detailed understanding of various manual machine operations such as but not limited to horizontal lathe, vertical turning lathe (VTL), boring and milling machines
- Detailed understanding of tooling, feed rates, etc.
- Maintain, repair, or alter equipment and tools to achieve desired results.
- Contribute to safety and quality objectives by taking responsibility for workspace organization and cleanliness.
- Schedule and perform machining operations in an efficient and concise manner.
- Ability to prioritize work tasks
- Work overtime and weekends as needed to achieve production goals.
- Communicates tooling and maintenance needs to operations manager
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Three or more years operation manual machines such as a horizontal lathe, vertical turning lathe, and boring mill.
- Ability to perform API machining operations
- Interpret dimensional drawings.
- Ability to perform dimensional measurements using precision gages such as calipers and micrometers.
- Attention to detail and supervisor’s instructions.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- None required
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Experience operating material moving equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Working knowledge of wellheads and similar oilfield equipment.
- Knowledge of ERP systems.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
